Last year I joined Race For Breath as my father battled lung cancer. I trained (no easy feat when you have a toddler!) and raised money. The weekend of the race I couldn't run. Instead I was holding my father's hand as he lost his battle.
You see, the same weekend I planned to show support for lung cancer research my father quickly moved from sarcastic family man to a memory. His last hours were truly a struggle for him. Imagine trying desperately to breathe and even with all the assistance modern medicine can provide you still can't. My dad was a stubborn man who did what he wanted when he wanted. Cancer took that from him. He couldn't will it away. He couldn't outwit it. It won.
I don't want more families to feel this. To see their loved ones battle with all they have just to lose. Lung cancer can impact anyone and doesn't have obvious warning signs to catch early. Often it is quick, painful, humbling.
What if I told you that you could join a passionate and connected nationwide community simply by making a donation? A community that believes that one day we will all be Free to Breathe. Well, you can.
I’m fundraising for Race for Breath benefiting Free to Breathe. Will you donate today and join me in raising money to fund lung cancer research and treatments that will save lives so that together we can help Free to Breathe in their quest to double lung cancer survival by 2022?
Here are ways you can help:
