My family has been participating in this race since 2007, since my father, Karl Janowski, found out he had lung cancer. He was able to participate twice before he passed away in 2009. My father loved to have a good time and make people laugh. He was a non-smoker all of his life, and as we found out cancer shows no favortism towards smoking or not. As most of us at this race know, once you find out you have this disease, its already too late. For this reason, we have tried to continue his efforts by bringing as many family and friends to the event every year, and raise as much money as possible. Until a cure is found and a race is no longer necessary, we plan to continue participating and raising money for this event.
The majority of my fundraising is accomplished by hosting a golf tournament prior to the race. This years event will be held at Bow Creek Golf Course in Virginia Beach on November 3rd. If you are interested in participating in the tournament, please contact me at email@example.com. This page serves as my fundraising site for both the tournament and race.
